Northwestern University Settlement seeks a dedicated professional with an appreciation for its mission. The middle school Social Worker will, Under the direction of the Rowe Principal and the Director of Special Education, encourage students to achieve to their fullest potential by assisting in developing their stress management and coping skills, increase self-esteem, improve social communication skills, and help to improve overall functioning within the learning environment. School social workers also provide crisis intervention, individual and group interventions, and services supporting mental health issues for students, school personnel and community/family.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
• Provide individual and group interventions based on IEP mandated minutes
• Serve on the the behavioral health team in order to plan and provide Tier II and Tier III interventions
• Consult with staff, parents and other appropriate parties regarding social and emotional factors impacting on the student’s learning experiences
• Complete social-developmental assessments for students needing initial evaluation or reevaluation
• Attend domain, eligibility and Individual Education Plan meetings to help determine eligibility for special education programs and appropriate counseling services
• In addition to the duties expressly provided above, the middle school Social Worker shall from time to time perform such other duties and functions as assigned by their direct supervisor.
