Google Drive Security Update Could Leave Some File Links Broken – Google is making changes in how it generates Drive file links for sharing.
The old Google Drive link will become inaccessible by mid-September. Google has announced that it is launching an update that would make sharing drive files more secure. This update will be available on September 13th, Google drive will provide a resource key to links generated for sharing. And for those who have viewed long before the changes take place online can continue accessing it. However, those who haven’t will need resource key to access the file.
The tech Giant is giving workspace admins until July 23rd to divide how security update will be applied to their organization. They can choose the twrnagive to alloy it with limitations or opt out altogether. As for personal users, they will receive a notification about the change from July 26th and will be given until September 13th to make a decision.
However, they can choose not apply the update, although google made it clear that the option not to apply update is not available. Google suggest not applying the update only to files posted publicly.
Google also has plans to roll out changes for YouTube that could break a bunch of older links.
