Payment companies are simplifying the process of getting money from one user to the other, and Facebook is now part of that system.
The social media platform is currently examining QR codes that allow you to pay someone else with just a scan from their mobile device.
If you are wondering why the social media giant has an interest in moving money, the social media platform also owns a payment service called Facebook pay. It allows you to make payments through social channels that Facebook supports, like its official messenger app.
A report from TechCrunch stated that WR code payments are making their way onto Facebook pay. Some users noticed that Facebook pay recently has an option called scan at the top of the app of the screen, you can get your QR code or scan someone else’s when you tap it.
You don’t require a physical meeting with the recipient to scan the code on their mobile device. Facebook gives you the link that leads directly to it, you can send the link to people who can access the QR on their browser and proceed to scan from their comfort zone.
This feature was characterized as a strange addition that emerged with no publicity or official announcement. However, a Facebook spokesperson reached out to tech crunch to confirm that it’s the real deal:
“To make payment easier, we have begun testing the ability for people to use QR codes and payment links when they want to send or request money.
You will have to live in the IS to be eligible to use this new payment feature, only people from 18 years and above can access this feature, and you must have a visa, MasterCard, PayPal, or any other supported prepaid payment methods registered on Facebook pay. You will also have to set dollars as your desired currency on the app.
You can now send and receive payments using QR codes using the Facebook payments app.
