The social media company Twitter is introducing labels for government account to more countries, the labels were first introduced in august for government account in the US, UK, Russia, China, and France.
Twitter has decided to cover other official accounts based in Cuba, Egypt, Canada, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Ecuador, Indonesia, Japan, Honduras, Spain, Italy, Thailand, Iran, turkey.
The company said it’s extending the labels based on countries that are part of G7, and countries that the social media company has attributed state-linked information operations to.
The labels will be used to identify accounts run by government officials or organization, this new feature will be effective from next week, an account belonging to heads of state and state-backed media organization will be labeled too.
