Amazon.co.uk to Double High Tech Research and Development in London
The new head office is primarily going to focus on research and development to promote the Amazon’s global Prime Video service. And will be the home of the London Development Centre so as to provide the space and infrastructure needed to double the number of research & development roles from 450 to 900.
In order to achieve this new development to the city of London, Amazon.co.uk has dedicated three floors in the new building for teams that will be a part of the research & development roles.
The teams so far includes
- Software development engineers
- User-interface experts
- Data analysts and
- Graphic designers
Together, they will all work towards building new technologies for Amazon’s Prime Video service alongside benefitting millions of customers around the world.
To mark the Amazon UK extension, the opening ceremony was graced by an announcement that children and young people will not be overlooked. Resources will be set in place to help them acknowledge and reach their potential in the digital world.
This announcement was also backed up with a funding for a million school children’s healthy breakfasts in the next school year through Magic Breakfast. Intake of female tech students through the Amazon Women in Innovation Bursary will be doubled and over 5,000 schoolchildren in 77 schools will benefit from this 2017/2018 school year scheme.
